Realizing the Latihan in our Lives, Subud, and the World, will mark the 50th year of Subud in the USA.
With appreciation of our history and celebration of the legacy of the pioneers in the practice of the latihan, our gathering will convene in Vancouver, WA in July, combining:
* a retreat-like period of deep latihan and general testing, blended with wings activities ~ a Kejiwaan Gathering, July 1-3
* and the delegate meetings for the conduct of organizational business and the selection of a new National Committee by the membership ~ our Business Congress, July 3 evening - July 6.
| According to the
guidance received by the national helpers and committee, the first
three days will provide opportunities, for those able to attend the
expanded schedule, with time in which to step back from our habitual
latihans, allow deepening of our surrender, and experience the latihan
which is directing our lives. While many may find it challenging to
come for the entire six days, those who do will prepare the way for the
larger membership gathering over the holiday weekend to take actions
building for the future of Subud together. We hope that all who attend will experience a deeper latihan than they usually do and a renewal of their connection and devotion to the One Almighty God, and that their connection with their brothers and sisters in Subud will be energized. We encourage all the delegates to come early and participate in the kejiwaan gathering so their own personal renewal balances their work on behalf of the growth of Subud. |

We hope that all members will consider participating as fully as possible and that they will test and receive for themselves or with local helpers how they can be part of Congress and how they are being called to serve Subud in the coming year.

am pleased to let all of you know that Sharif and Tuti Horthy have
accepted our invitation to join in Subud USA's 50th Celebration and
National Congress. This is a wonderful opportunity for our membership to hear stories about Bapak's many visits to the United States, and about recent visits with Ibu. I'm sure the gathering will stir our collective memory and encourage others to share their stories as well. We will keep you all informed as to Sharif's and Tuti's schedule and the events of our national gathering. ~ Deliana Fuddy |

Latihan in our Lives, in Subud and in the World
What an opportunity! Come for the kejiwaan experience - and then put what you've received into motion, for your life and for Subud. JULY 1, 2 & 3 - Space for latihan, testing and exploration The first three days of the Congress we have the space and time to deeply explore through latihan, testing and small group discussion. EVENINGS we'll gather together for sharing and stories - Sharif and Tuti Horthy will be here with us, and we'll entice them to tell about living and traveling with Bapak. There is space every night for songs, poetry and music. OPENING CEREMONY: The evening of July 3 we'll begin our celebration of 50 years of Subud in the United States - both looking back and looking forward, so there will be past and future Subud "pioneers." JULY 4 - Testing for Subud USA Chair and Vice Chair, and affiliate chairs. JULY 5 & 6 - Delegates and members explore our organization Let the visioning begin! Osanna Vaughn, World Subud Association chairperson, writes, "Let's take an in-depth look at the way we function as an association, question what is working and where we need to find new approaches." CULTURAL CELEBRATION OF SUBUD IN THE USA will be held the evening of July 5, following our formal dinner. So jump on board, register for the July 2008 National Congress, and join in for latihan, testing and in-depth exploration of issues interesting to you and your life. AND we need your input for our future as an organization of folks who received the gift of the latihan. |

CALL FOR PERFORMERS
50 years of Subud in the USA celebrated at the National Congress 2008! Saturday night, July 5th has been designated as the official entertainment night for the 50th year celebration. The theme of this performance is "generation duets". We are looking for multi-generational expressions of performance art. So if you would like to perform, see if there is someone of another generation who can create with you. Time length will be determined by the number of pieces submitted. The deadline for submitting is May 25th. Let's make this a real party with young, old and everyone in between! Opening Ceremonies entertainment for National Congress 2008! Thursday, July 3rd is the night for the Opening Ceremonies. People are needed to share their talents for the opening ceremonies. We are looking for representational bits for each of the decades from 1958 to 2008. Even if you do not want to perform, share what you have seen that you think is iconic in the pantheon of Subud life over the years, such as: Redmond and Hamid's elevator doctors or the old favorite "Turkey Lurkey" skit; a favorite Bapak quote, or something you want to share that made a difference for you during your time in Subud. Don't forget the younger generations! Let’s hear from you about what is the future of Subud entertainment! Time length will be determined by the number of pieces submitted.
