Latihan in our Lives, in Subud and in the World What an opportunity! Come for the kejiwaan experience - and then put what you've received into motion, for your life and for Subud. JULY 1, 2 & 3 - Space for latihan, testing and exploration. The first three days of the Congress we have the space and time to deeply explore through latihan, testing and small group discussion. Our national helpers have scheduled three daily latihans followed by open-ended testing arising from members' wishes. Subud USA's affiliate organizations - our "wings" - will facilitate exploring life issues such as: My role in nurturing the world and our fellow beings (Susila Dharma) Finding and accomplishing work true to my inner talents (Subud Enterprise Association) Releasing my inner creativity (Subud International Cultural Association) ... and more! Our youth will have programs for THEIR inner natures involving play, art, outdoor experiences and more - and Subud Youth Association is sharing fun activities with us throughout the congress. EVENINGS we'll gather together for sharing and stories - Sharif and Tuti Horthy will be here with us, and we'll entice them to tell about living and traveling with Bapak. Videos of Bapak giving talks will be shown.  Did you know he visited Disneyland with Peter Mark and Helen Richman - and they've got the video to prove it!  There is space every night for songs, poetry and music. OPENING CEREMONY: The evening of July 3 we'll begin our celebration of 50 years of Subud in the United States - both looking back and looking forward, so there will be past and future Subud "pioneers." JULY 4 - Testing for Subud USA Chair and Vice Chair, and affiliate chairs. Of course, a special focus of this congress is identifying needs and goals for Subud USA, and finding leaders (national chair and vice chair, and affiliate chairs) who can address and implement these. Chair and vice chair to be tested in the morning, with affiliate chairs tested in the afternoon. Evening fireworks scheduled to celebrate our new committee members. JULY 5 & 6 - Delegates and members explore our organization. Let the visioning begin! Osanna Vaughn, World Subud Association chairperson, writes, "Let's take an in-depth look at the way we function as an association, question what is working and where we need to find new approaches. I'm sure there is a common understanding among Subud members that the latihan allows a process of change and growth within ourselves as individuals; it is obvious then that our association should reflect this by being a flexible structure, where change and new concepts are possible." Join with our center delegates to discuss what, at its best, Subud means to us and what about Subud inspires and moves us. In small groups, with "pair interviews," let's explore issues such as: * What are the strengths of Subud today? * What has someone done in Subud that impressed - or delighted - you? * Imagine Subud is broadly known around the world - what would be the main things that enabled this to happen? * Use your magic wand and make three wishes that would heighten the vitality of Subud - what would the wishes be? WHY do this "pie in the sky" type of thinking? It shines positive focus on our organization. It places the emphasis on future development. And, it gives our new committee ideas to base strategic planning on. CULTURAL CELEBRATION OF SUBUD IN THE USA will be held the evening of July 5, following our formal dinner. Rosana Schutte is organizing this gala event. So jump on board, register for the July 2008 National Congress, and join in for latihan, testing and in-depth exploration of issues interesting to you and your life.
